He's on morphine every six hours, so hopefully he won't feel much. He'll be there over night, and hopefully well enough to go home tomorrow (on the 6th).

Great news.  Jake's family has created a Facebook page. Here you'll be able to follow his progress. There are new pictures posted and some of the pictures are of his leg without the cast. You'll see why he needs our help, but please know you'll see many more happy pictures as he heals too.
Thank you all for the support.

1/5/2015 Please share this great news, and will keep you posted!!

Updated: We're making progress!!

Captain Jake is at Ambassador Animal, in Clinton, IA. One of the vets came out to greet him, and get up speed on Jake. He had heard of Jake, but this was a chance to meet him in person!!
Doctor has many surgeries scheduled today, but hopes to get to Jake's procedure today. He looked at the X-Rays, and feels it is the best recommendation to amputate his leg.

As of now, Jake is at the hospital. He is sedated, and has an IV, and is hopefully peaceful enough until he wakes up again.

It was hardest for Jake to leave his little Human Boy, Payton. The two boys have grown so attached to each other, but Payton understands that Jake will be returning to them just as soon as he can.

More to come as I know it!! Thanks for all of your well wishes, they are appreciated!!

This little guy has had so much medical treatment this weekend, and hopefully this can come to a close today.
He's had X-rays, blood work, cast removed, cleaned, and replaced. He's quite a bit of pain, so he's had medicine to help keep the pain down, but it isn't enough. Sometimes you can see the tears in his eyes from pain.
Hopefully today will be a turning point. Hoping Lena can find someone who can do the procedure to remove his leg. He'll also be neutered, to prevent future complications.
Keep Lena, Captain Jake, and family in your thoughts. All shares are appreciated. All donations are appreciated.
Will updates just as soon as I can.

They are at another vet, one in Cedar Falls (another spot in Iowa). He was in too much pain, so they were able to get a shot. They also had to have his bandage/cast re-applied, he was bleeding through. :(
Please keep Captain Jake in your thoughts, Lena and family too. They are selfless when it comes to this little guy. <3
Please, if you want to share this update on Facebook, please do. If you want to share in email, please do. If you want to share on Twitter, please do.

Added a picture of his little cast. He's quite a trooper.

1/2/15. Update:
We are leaving the specialty clinic in Cedar Rapids now. Jake has no signs of internal bleeding but can take up to 48 hours. Amputation is his best option at this point. We are in the Waterloo/Cedar Falls area this weekend & plan to look around for someone to amputate tomorrow. We are able to get him in locally on Monday but due to injuries & risk of infection we'd like this done as soon as possible. He is on an antibiotic & pain management medication. Please feel free to share the update!! Thank you all again for the encouragement, support, & donations. It truly means a lot.   -Lena

Please keep spreading the word. Another update, he is in Cedar Rapids now: If when they open the cast and if bones are popping out then they need to amputate, if no bones then pins and splints. He is staying here over the weekend for pain management and the surgeons in during the week

Update: They are in Cedar Rapids now. I don't know much more at this time, other than they are waiting to see someone there. Look at this sweet boy.

Thank you so much to everyone who has donated, everything helps, and it is really really appreciated.

Updates. Please continue to share this page.

Home, still shaking, washing my blood soaked clothes but he is in a safe place and has pain meds. Lena is on her way home and we will both go see how he's doing in the morning. He didn't want me or Lena to leave.
They will fix his broken leg as best they can but he will need surgery. He is a Jack Russell mix, male, un-nutered young dog
Thank you so much Cheryl and staff at All Pets Clinic. You are angels for helping this baby.

He is staying at All Pets overnight. Leg is definitely broken. He is going to need surgery. About $3,000 so hit up the GoFundMe site & pitch in what you can. Every bit helps. They said he's a young pup. Still looking for owners so spread the word. He was found shortly after 4pm by Bluff Elementary school. I will be back in town in the morning to check in on him.

Vet asst. Just took it inside to get it stable

Dr. Ernst -All Pets-is on the way to town to see the pup!!

This pup was hit by a car on Bluff, and she isn't doing well. Part of her leg is dangling, and she is bleeding.

The Animal hospital won't see the pup unless they have payment up front. Someone has been gracious enough to foot the bill, this go-fund-me is to reimburse her the costs.
