The Canada Sierra-Leone Friendship Society Inc. needs your help.

We are a new nonprofit organization based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada and Sierra-Leone Our goal is to build socio-economic bridges to assist in improving the lives of indigent persons and orphans. Our organization is currently taking care of 45 children in the Port Loko district who were orphaned by the Ebola outbreak in 2018 in a country which is still feeling the effect of the last Civil War.

A few weeks ago we sent a shipping container full of donated items, including computers, clothing, sewing machines, books, and a solar power system to help enable the people of Port Loko to improve their lives.  Many people in the Port Loko district use battery-powered torches and kerosene lamps to light their homes, resulting in many fire related disasters. Batteries consume, on average, 10-15% or more of household incomes. The effect at household level means that many homes run in darkness because they cannot afford batteries. Children as a result have no light to study by.

Our organization finds itself suddenly in need of financial assistance for the shipment of items to Sierra-Leone.  We have been informed that in order for these donated items to clear customs we will have to pay approximately $10,000.00 CDN.
