Camilla's Eyes
My mother Camilla is in desperate need of emergency surgery. She has sickle-cell thalassimia her insurance premiums are too much for her to afford on her own, because of this chronic disease.
She receives no welfare, medicaid or any government aid, we have tried and tried to get her qualified. She makes $28,000 a year as a receptionist too much for medicaid, but just enough to pay the rent.
3 weeks ago she was having pain in her eyes we brought her to the doctor and she was misdiagnosed. She had to be rushed to the emergency room after losing her vision completely in her Left eye 1 week ago while driving. Turns out she had a very serious problem in her eye. She needs Emergency Surgery ASAP or she will go blind. The Surgery will costs $8000+. Me and my siblings are living week to week and have exhausted all of our assets to help her, between medical bills, gas, and air fare.
Me and my siblings all live out of state(NY,DE) coming down (FL) to see her and help her isnt a cheap expense for us, she cannot live in NY /DE because the cold weather triggers a crisis from the Sickle-Cell. She is Blind right now in one eye, and if surgery isnt performed she will be permanently blind. She was forced to quit her job a few days ago, unable to drive to work because of her eyes. She wont be able to see her grand children grow up. PLEASE HELP!
My mother needs to have this surgery SOON and we wouldnt be on here asking for help if we has other options. We are in the process of trying other ways to get help from the government but its not looking good or will take too long.
My mother has worked every day of her life up until now the age of 58. I pray that this helps her, we just dont know what else to do.
