Used School Bus for Rural School

Growing up in Tunisia, a 3rd world country in North Africa, which has recently become democratic, I knew that in order to have more opportunity, education would be the key. I worked and studied and eventually made my way to the United States where I attended community college and then transferred to and graduated from Cornell University. Not only am I the first in my family to graduate from college, I am the only one.
I have seen first-hand the difference education makes, and with all of my family still in Tunisia, I want to do what I can to make that difference there. I have a good friend who has made it his mission to transform and improve the very elementary school that I attended, Ouled Khlifa Elementary school.
It is at this school where I learned to read and write, I learned math and French, and practiced the skills that taught me that no challenge life may throw your way is insurmountable. This is the same school that my nieces, age 5 and 8, will attend next year. My sister is recently widowed, and she like many mothers in the town have difficulty getting their children to the school, which is 5km from the main town. My goal is to raise enough money to provide the school with a small bus to transport students so that they can pursue their education.
Helping this school is very important for many reasons: (1) this school educated generations of teachers, professors, policeman, bankers, and many more professions; (2) the opportunities are limited in this part of the world, and especially in rural areas; (3) I am a true believer that hatred comes from place of weakness and by empowering a generation of Tunisians, or even a few of them, we are opening them to world of opportunities and therefore to love and compassion, not hate; (4) and because the few dollars you will donate, will go a long way to support someone's education and future.
Every penny will go to buying a used school bus, fixing any safety or mechanical issues it may have, and shipping it. If any additional money is left, we will buy school supplies and winter clothes for those who can't afford them.
