Cameron Michael

Cameron Michael is a 4 year old boy from houghton, michigan who was recently diagnosed with a rare disease called langerhans cell hystiocytosis(LCH), which is a rare disorder of the dendric cells(dendric cells are immune cells in various tissues throughout the body). The cells multiply and cause damage to the tissue, this can be in one area of the body or several, including organs.

Cameron was brought to the portage hospital emergency room after discovering a small bump on the backside of his head, cameron complained of soreness when touching the bump, and since there was no visiable cut, bruise or redness Camerons family acted immediaty and brought him to the er at 12 the same night. Within 2 hours Cameron had a CT scan, and labs done and was being flown by the University of Michigan Medical flight team to the MOTT Childrens Hospital in Ann Arbor, Mi. There he underwent surgery to do a Biopsy on the bump, MRI, CT & PET Scans all over the next week. After the First week at MOTT Cameron and his family were sent home to wait & prepare for the resluts from all tests, scans, and biopsy.

Within a few days of being home they received the results which was the diagnosis of Langerhans Cell Hystiocytosis. Cameron and his family now must return to the MOTT Childrens Hospital weekely for Chemotheraphy Treatments. A round trip of 20 hours. Every thursday they will have to drive to  Ann Arbor to be able to arrive in time for his appointments every friday at noon. Cameron must recieve this treatment to have a chance at fighting and living through this disease.
