Cambodia Outreach July 2014
Love has no language barrier!
Our October outreach was a huge success! We were able to provide school uniforms to over 360, shoes to approximately 280, and school supplies to more than 350 children, at schools and throughout countryside villages. We partnered with Life & Hope Association to help with flood relief efforts for 90 families significantly effected by the devastating flood. It was a very rewarding trip. We touched many lives, and we are grateful to all those who supported our efforts.
I returned MOTIVATED and ready for the next Cambodia outreach scheduled for JULY 2014. I have enjoyed the partnership we have made with ABOUTAsia School and plan to continue to support the schools that they monitor on our next trip.
Water and sanitation issues are a big problem in Cambodia. Since school will not be in session when we visit in July, it will be a good time to tackle those issues on school campuses. A large number of illness or death in children is caused from dirty water. Many schools are not equipped with water wells or toilets. Can you imagine? This is nothing out of the ordinary for them, but it is definitely a health hazard. We are looking forward to partnering once again with ABOUTAsia Schools which is funded by ABOUTAsia Travel and other generous supporters. The travel company donates 100% profit to the non-profit they created, to promote education and support schools and students in the community.
As always we will continue to do community outreach in countryside villages, where we will donate food, clothing, school supplies, household necessities and hygiene items to families most in need. This proved to be incredible rewarding to me personally and I enjoyed seeing my extended Cambodian family participate and take pride in helping others.
This webpage will be active through July 2014 to accept donations and keep you up to date on our progress towards our goal. If you are feeling led to make a monitory donation, you are welcome to do so by credit card on this page. I will also post information about other fundraising opportunities. Donations are not used to cover travel expenses, they are used to purchase supplies to serve those most in need.
As the trip gets closer, donations of toothbrushes/toothpaste and good condition second hand clothing or new (especially children or small sizes) would be welcomed and appreciated.
