ROUND 2!!

Ok amigos, remember last year when  I invited ya'll to be a supporter of the Casa Hogar Grandes Chicos (CHGC) orphanage in Guadalajara, Jalisco?

Well...

We're at it again! Jose & I will be visiting CHGC over labor day weekend and we're inviting you to once again seed into this non-traditional orphanage in Mexico.

You have only a few days to contribute to this GoFundMe. Funds will be delivered in person this weekend and will be used to pay for food, clothes, school supplies, medical, dental and psychological care for each child under the care of CHGC.

PREVIOUS POST:

In honor of my 28th birthday, let's raise $2,800 for this amazing non-traditional orphanage in Guadalajara. Instead of birthday gifts, I ask you to please make $28 contributions to help Casa Hogar Grandes Chicos (CHGC) develop these kids!

Check out the video that Jose made from our visit to CHGC in October for more info on this new model orphanage changing lives in Guadalajara!

Currently, CHGC is caring for 28 children from one month to 14 years old. CHGC pays for food, clothes, school supplies, medical, dental and psychological care for each child under their care.

When we met with Julio and his family last year, we learned all about the history and struggle of opening the traditional orphanage. They noticed that as the kids got older, they would run away, go back to the streets and get into trouble. Keeping the goal in mind, Julio decided to CHANGE THINGS UP and hack the system to develop a NEW MODEL that paired up the children with host families, all while CHGC maintained responsibility for all the financial needs of the children. The host families are solely responsible for raising the children in a loving family environment.

Once a month, the host families and the children meet at CHGC. While the kids play and have a party, the parents meet as a group with CHGC staff for a status check and to undergo training sessions.

There was a bit of a struggle to get the government to accept this new model as true because it was DIFFERENT and NEW and not even in the rule book. The results couldn’t lie though and eventually, in 2016, this new model was written into law by the Mexican government. #Winning
