The repair and retirement of Caleb Gilbert's original set of Highland bagpipes (which were recently damaged), purchase a NEW set of Highland bagpipes, and buy him a set of small pipes for his 40th birthday!
Caleb is a well-loved Highland Bagpiper in Michigan.
He purchased his first and only set of bagpipes at the age of 16. He worked all summer to buy them and the first time he played them was at his Grandmother's house. It's been a long time since those first notes squawked out of these bagpipes (pictured), and now he has students of his own.
His trusty and loyal bagpipes have been with him through thick and thin. He has played with the Red Thistle Pipes and Drums, and at the Detroit Thanksgiving Day Parade. He has performed at venues big and small such as festivals, religious events, birthdays, funerals, and many others (including his own wedding) and has allowed him to meet an unprecedented number of talented artists and wonderful friends along the way. It has been an awesome journey so far...
However, the fateful day inevitably came when his beloved bagpipes endured considerable damage due to becoming fragile after 24 years of faithful use.
Realizing how many memories are tied to this now invaluable instrument, he believes that it would be best to retire them, or risk losing them completely.
But there is still more music to be played....
It has been his hope to buy new bagpipes, gear, and a set of small pipes for many many years, but being a staunch and loyal family man, has not been able to do so. Every year he tries, but every year one emergency or another takes place. Now, because his only set of bagpipes are damaged, we (his family) realize the need is at hand but we will need help doing so.
Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated!!
This year is Caleb's 40th birthday, so this is a complete surprise! He doesn't know that we are asking on his behalf and he wouldn't think to ask for this from anyone!

If you have been to the Michigan Renaissance Festival any time in the past 15 years, you probably have seen Caleb the Piper, but more accurately you have probably HEARD his bagpipes playing a jig, piping in the Queen, at noon time parades, playing a wedding, or maybe at the gate for the final revalries at closing time.
If he isn't at festival you might see him piping for a wedding, funeral, or other venue from time to time. His talent has seen his family through many financial set backs and has been a source of income and joy through some very rough patches for many years. Please help us to ensure he can continue to "pipe us in" with his amazing bagpiping talent for many years to come.
