CVVM Armed Forces Deligation to Cape Verde

Donation protected
Cabo Verde President Jose Maria Neves and Minster of Communities Jorge Santos attended the Cape Verdean Veterans Memorial (CVVM) 5th Annual Ceremony on September 17th. An invitation was extended for the CVVM to participate in the "Celebration of Culture and Cape Verdean Communities Day" in Praia, Santiago, Cape Verde Island on October 26th.
We are requesting contributions to help defray the cost of airfare for the CVVM Project Director and four Cape Verdean Armed Forces Members.

#Symbols MatterMemorials Matter
Memorials are important sources of information for the next generation to understand the sacrifice made by Cape Verdean Veterans and serve as an everlasting tribute that gives recognition and appreciation for their service. The CVVM project is the first of its kind in the country at a US state/federally funded site. The Cape Verdean Veteran's Memorial Project is a 501(c)(3) non-profit.

Many Cape Verdeans that immigrated to the United States enlisted to serve in the military before becoming US citizens. Documentation of Cape Verdean Veterans dates back to the early 1800s. The records verify that Cape Verdeans served in the Civil War.

The Rhode Island Veteran's Cemetery
The Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery (RIVMC) was founded in May 1974. The cemetery is also home to 39 monuments representing many veterans and ethnic and wartime organizations. Despite the state's small size, the RIVMC is the 5th busiest State Veterans Cemetery in the United States.
