A safe new car for CVS Dave

Donation protected
Hi friends,
So today is the day that I ask for your help in making one individuals life a little easier....
I know this is lengthy, but I promise that its worth it.

Meet Dave.

(DAVE AND I)

Dave is an overnight worker at my local Trinity CVS. Maybe you have seen him around, always sporting a smile even at 3am. If you have ever come into contact with him you can immediately tell by his gentle disposition and soft spoken voice that he is a very kind hearted man. Dave also can be seen with his overnight co-worker, Nancy, the most genuine and sweetest woman.

I first met Dave about two years ago around 3am. I normally go in after a long night with friends, work, or if I can't sleep and want to read the greeting cards :) I can almost always count on Dave and Nancy to greet me by name and ask me how things are going. I look forward to seeing their faces when I walk in.

During my trips, I always notice the car that is parked in the far side of the parking lot. A clearly well traveled, beat-up, blue four door (technically, two door) that has a tarp covering the entire passenger side where functional doors would hang. I always knew it was Dave's car and always drove by, groceries in trunk, imagining how cool it would be to give this man a safer car... *PICTURES BELOW*

I always knew a little bit about Dave: He loves cats! (Just like my crazy cat-lady of a mother, *jk mom love you* LOL)... I sometimes go in to CVS for last minute cat food and he lights up! He talks about the strays that he adopted, now loves and cares for. I can tell that these animals are his life being that he has no family left aside from a sister-in-law hours away.

But tonight I decided to take a trip into CVS tonight specifically to find out more about Dave.
After speaking to the Pharmacist on duty and Dave's overnight partner, Nancy, I quickly realized why I was feeling that I needed to make something happen for this man.

I found out that Dave just had a major heart attack (replaced artery, enlarged aorta, aorta bypass) requiring him to undergo surgery. Which left him with a huge hospital bill, out of work for weeks. Nancy also enlightened me that he has been using as many vacation hours each week just to get by and pay his hospital bill...

I asked Nancy about his vehicle in the parking lot. She let me know that among the cosmetic damage, caused by being T-Boned about 2 years ago, the internal ware also is an issue. No properly working windshield wipers, so after work in the early morning he has to wipe down the windows with an old T-Shirt. As if that wasn't enough, to start the vehicle he has to pop the hood and connect the cables to get it started. She said that he has tons of bruises up and down his arms from doing so each time. *PICTURES BELOW*

This isn't even half of the obstacles I learned about tonight that Dave has gone through...But to be as kind hearted and as positive as this man, I think he deserves so much more than what he has.

My goal is to raise $5,000 for both a newer but USED vehicle and also to help Dave get on his feet with all of his medical expenses.

I know that my goal is a long shot, but with the smallest bit of help from everyone, I think we can really make something awesome happen for this man.

******* DAVE HAS NO IDEA ABOUT THIS. I'M TRYING TO KEEP IT AS MUCH OF AS SURPRISE THAT I CAN... SO PLEASE, IF YOU SEE HIM, DON'T MENTION THIS FUNDRAISER... THANK YOU !!! :)
