Help us fund Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome Association Nordic

What is CVS?

CVS is a disorder first described by Dr. S. Gee in 1882 that can affect both children and adults. The cause of the disease is unknown and those diagnosed with the condition experience symptoms that include recurrent prolonged attacks of severe nausea, prostration and also acute abdominal pain in some cases. Vomiting occurs at frequent intervals for hours or often days at a time (from 1-4 most commonly). Each episode tends to be similar to one another, in both symptoms suffered and duration of the attack, with a return to normal health in-between.

Why did we start CVSA Nordic?

People suffering from CVS often feel alone in their battle with the disease and have a hard time finding out information about the condition. People with CVS can go for years without proper diagnosis or are often misdiagnosed, leading to unnecessary treatments or avoidable surgeries, simply because not enough is known about the disease among health care providers. This makes the search for help when you suffer from the condition tough and also makes it hard to keep the faith that some relief from symptoms can be found

CVSA Nordic was founded in 2017 in an effort to collect experience and knowledge in one place, so that people searching for information on CVS would not have to do all the digging themselves. We want to share our knowledge with those that need it, and we want to offer people with CVS, their families and their caretakers a place to meet and exchange experiences. We want to give support, not only to the people suffering from CVS, but to those around them as well.

The founders of CVSA Nordic have been members of CVSA USA for years, but saw the need for a Nordic association, to cater the need for information on CVS treatment in the Nordic countries, and how to navigate the health system in our respective countries.

What will we do with the donations?

CVSA Nordic is a non-profit organization, and no one working in this organization receives any monetary reward. As stated in our articles of association , any excess of funds received from donations must always be reinvested into the organization to reach our goal.

This is how we will use the money:

650 Nok will buy us two years of webhosting while we build the website and start getting the first paying members.

300 Nok will buy us web-domain for the same amount of time.

300 Nok will buy us backup&restore to protect our website during this period of time.

3.000 Nok will buy a system where our members can register and pay their membership fee.
The components to the website itself (pictures, forum, design etc), cost about 5.000 Nok, but the work of actually putting it up is done for free.

About 8%* of the donations goes to gofundme for running the platform where we hold our crowdfunding campaign, and we are left with approximately 92% of everything that is donated through this page.

A total of 10.000 Nok (about 1200 USD/ 1100 Euro) in donations would help us through that first period until we can get members and membership-fees to carry some of the financial load for further hosting of our website.

CVSA Nordic is registered in the Norwegian entity register, and has the organization number 918 757 066.

* gofundme platform: 5%, Payment processing: 2,4% + 2 Nok pr payment + Non-Norwegian cards may be subject to an additional 1,5% processing fee.
