Colleen's Boston Marathon Fund

Donation protected
I am excited to announce that on April 16, 2018 I have been given the incredible opportunity of running the 122nd Boston Marathon as a representative of the Boston Fire Department in support of the Tommy Quinn Scholarship Fund.

This foundation began in 2009 in support of the Tommy Quinn who lost his life too soon at the age of 14 while courageously battling brain cancer. Tommy Quinn (TQ) was loved by all and fought his diagnosis with courageous faith that a cure would be found. That led his father, Tom, a Boston firefighter with Ladder 23 and Engine 24, to start running the Boston Marathon along with other firefighters to raise awareness for Brain Tumor Research. The Tommy Quinn Brain Tumor Research Fund at Dana Farber Cancer Institute has grown over the years and a true testament of his legacy. Tommy’s untimely death, at the young age of fourteen, changed our lives forever. We are determined to honor Tommy’s legacy by honoring a student of a Boston Firefighter who possesses the qualities that our Tommy had; perseverance, integrity, a leader among his peers and service oriented. Through this scholarship we want everyone to remember TQ's love of family and friends, his bright smile, his contagious laughter and his zest for life!

As many are familiar with the events that transpired in 2013 at the bombing of the Boston Marathon, I have been more driven now than ever to partake in one of Boston's greatest traditions. Throughout the past few years, I have been able to complete two half marathons with the determination and grit to now take on the greatest challenge to date in Boston. #BostonStrong

I hope that you will join me in committing to this organization to support a dependent student of the Boston Fire Department in Tommy’s name. No donation is too small and every dollar is a step closer to an education in Tommy’s name. I thank you immensely for your encouragement, support, and generosity as I embark on this journey towards 26.2 and hope to see some of you along the course!
