In 2014 I was diagnosed with having Parkinson's disease.
It is hard for me to get into the shower without feeling like I am going to fall and It is impossible to use a regular bath tub because they are very low. What I really need is to purchase a walk-in-bathtub to help alleviate my pain and give me therapy..
Parkingson's seems to be attacking my whole body very quickly. My hands shake so badly I can no longer work, paint or put Lego's together........and there seems to be a never ending supply of pain. I move inside with a walker and outside only with the aid of an awesome electric wheelchair.
Soaking in warm water is one of the oldest forms of alternative therapy for pain, and Research has shown that warm water therapy works wonders for all kinds of nerve conditions, including fibromyalgia, arthritis and Parkinson’s.
Within minutes of relaxing in warm water, blood pressure decreases significantly, your circulation improves which delivers more blood and oxygen to the extremities. and lactic acid is released and muscles begin to relax. Over time, soaking in warm water on a regular basis increases range of motion, making it easier to move without pain.
The tub, from Home Depot, is around $2000. The cost to install it in my bathroom will be around $3000 because a wall has to be remade and the old bath tub has to be removed.
