WHO WE ARE
Clapping Hands Farm (clappinghandsfarm.com ) is an arts and nature camp serving children, families, and adults, located ¾ of a mile down a gravel road near Pittsboro, North Carolina. We are off the grid, with acres of woods and fields, a fairy forest, trails, a pond, hand-pumped well water, use-your-foot sinks, and solar power. We have created, and are committed to sustaining, a diverse camp community with racial balance, economic access, and campers who bring a wide range of abilities and needs. In the wake of COVID-19, which has deeply exacerbated inequalities nationwide, we view Clapping Hands Farm's commitment to social, economic, and racial justice as more necessary than ever.
OUR SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM:
Clapping Hands Farm has a simple camp fee policy: No One Turned Away. In 2019 we gave out $41,525 in scholarship money. 51% of our campers came to camp on 197 scholarships.
Clapping Hands Farm would not be the magical place it is without its scholarship fund. COVID-19 has made this camp season different from those before it: instead of face-to-face programs, we are running interactive workshops, community gatherings, and family concerts online. We are happy to find these programs are providing inspiration and connection during this time of quarantine. As one Zoom camp mom put it, “Still loads of camp love!” A key element of that love is our scholarship program, which came with us when we moved our programs online.
Despite our ongoing programs in the midst of COVID, our 2020 camp income did drop significantly when we cancelled face-to-face programs at the farm and refunded camp fees. This year, more than ever before, your donation matters.
HOW TO DONATE:
--Donations made on this GoFundMe site have a small fee to cover credit card processing. There is a 2.9% standard processing fee plus $.30 for each donation, which we are happy to pay.
--You can also donate directly to Clapping Hands by sending a check to 3348 Alston Chapel Road, Pittsboro, NC 27312, and no fees will apply.
