Help us create more places where anyone can get inspired to do more, be more and give more. For the past four years, Common Grounds has been brewing in the direction of freedom, fighting human trafficking and helping raise awareness of injustices in our use of coffee and other abused produces. Due to the heightened awareness of injustice facing young persons of color, we will turn our focus to this far reaching area of needs. Creative thinking youth are likely to be the ones who create opportunities for others on the margins of our society.
Imagine helping a teen or young adult organize a design studio, start a clothing line, publish a book, perform at a large public venue or record music for a major label. Art has a way of influencing every aspect of community and commercial success. To quote Steve Jobs, "I think the artistry is in having an insight into what one sees around them. Generally putting things together in a way no one else has before and finding a way to express that to other people who don’t have that insight." We need creative adults who can empower creative youth to contribute into the marketplace of ideas. With your help we can make Dekalb County, IL an example of opportunity, innovation and collaboration?
Donations will be used to create space for youth empowerment, seed money for startups, coaching and a tuition for supplies and equipment. We believe that together our coffeeshop community can upliftIng people on the margins of society here and around the world.
CG4 (formerly Resolution Church of DeKalb) is a non-for profit that seeks to create a platform for young artists (13-19) to receive coaching, mentorship and resources leading to a potential career path. Through group collaboration and encouragement students are empowered as future designers, illustrators, authors and performers.
