CDSG Nicaragua Service Trip 2014

Hello everyone,

This year in the third week of February, a team of 16 students from Country Day School Guanacaste will travel to Managua, Nicaragua for a week-long community service project to help those in need. The neighborhood where we will focus our efforts on is situated around a garbage dump. The families there are in need of basic necessities: shelter, food and drinkable water. Nicaragua is the second poorest country in the western hemisphere, second only to Haiti, and this area known as Cristo Rey is one of the poorest communities in the country.
Primarily, we will be building homes and plan to build at least six homes during our visit. These homes cost $600 to build and will provide each family with the shelter they so desperately need. We will also help to feed children each day at a feeding center. For most of these children who come each day for lunch, it is their only meal. We will also be visiting and helping in an orphanage and providing food bags and clothing for those in need.

If you would like to help support me on this trip, there are several ways to do so:

* Feed a child for a month: $30
* Send a child to school for a year: $100
* Purchase food bags and feed a family for a month: $8 per food bag
* Make a donation to the orphanage: Any amount
* Donate gently used baby clothes, shoes and toys
