Hi! My name is Jean-Marc Flambert. I am a Haitian / Sri Lankan and living in the UK.
I have decided to stand by my family, friends and fellow Haitians. We were battered by a painfully slow (5 miles an hour) and incredibly powerful (145 miles an hour wind) monster of a hurricane.
Haiti is a fragile and could not sustain this onslaught. People were killed, thousands of people made homeless and the loss of income, and personal belongings is estimated to be huge. People need water, food, shelter and medical attention and there are many charities already on the ground providing life saving support.
I am not skilled to deliver these essentials - I will leave this to the charities. I want to focus on trade not aid.
Haiti is best known for her art, and this heritage is my focus. Plus, I am then able to give Haitians dignity of labour by buying their produce rather than them having to beg.
My target is to collect £10,000 and buy arts and craft from people in Haiti.
I have £ 900 worth of art at home in London from my personal collection, and a friend is buying and shipping me some more art. This will arrive by the 31st October 2016 the latest. You will be sent some art in return for your purchase by the end of November the latest
. You money is used to purchase the art from artists affected by the hurricane, to pay the commission to this site, to ship it to the UK and to post it to you. There are no hidden extras.
In addition, I may travel to Haiti myself. If I do, your money will not be used for my travel expenses as these costs are sponsored by Your Tourism Partner Ltd.This is not about emergency response but restoring livelihoods.£100 can buy
