Jones and Star, victims of the Howard County Maryland puppy mill raid, are safe in the hands of NEBTR!
A Maryland couple were discovered running a puppy mill out of their home and were charged with over 100 counts of animal cruelty after Howard County Animal Control rescued 54 animals. The dogs, including Jones and Star suffered severe neglect, cruelty, and starvation. Many were in need of medical care for untreated, painful conditions resulting from the neglect and abuse. Our team at NEBTR jumped into action and reached out to the Howard County authorities at the shelter to offer our help. Jones and Star, being in deplorable condition, were released to our care.
Now safe from further harm, Jones and Star have many medical issues. Star has a broken front leg that has been untreated for more than 2 days and now requires surgery to repair it. Jones, an unneutered male, has a grade 3 heart murmur and a severe skin condition which has caused the loss of all his hair.
Their medical problems must be addressed and treated immediately. We have only begun to understand the extent of the medical and emotional problems these sweet dogs will face due to their lifetime of abuse. Since arriving at NEBTR foster homes, Jones and Star are receiving the love and care that has been denied during their short lives so far.
As a community that loves Boston Terriers and all animals, we ask for your help. Let's send our love and support to Jones and Star. Let's tell them....
