Hi, my name is Nikki, I plan to go without food on a 3 day fast (20th -22nd December inclusive) to help raise funds to buy a well and other essential items for Francis Xarvier Children’s Ministry in Kambaala village, Mityana, Uganda.
My friend and dear brother, Francis is doing wonderful things in the community and saving lives. He not only cares for and supports 32 vulnerable children but also supports vulnerable elders, single mums and widows. Francis’s food garden is a lifeline to these people. He has big plans to transform his community one of which includes a school.
They are currently taking contaminated water from a dirty swamp daily. Every week a child becomes sick with typhoid, diarrhoea and skin rashes. The cost of the well is £500 which will benefit the whole village serving more than 700 residents including 320 children.
Francis and the children reside in a small house which has no electricity and very poor living conditions. So any funds raised above the cost of the well will provide a solar panel, plastering throughout and then bunk beds and mattresses. At present kids are sharing 3 or 4 to a single bed and there’s a big shortage of blankets.
