Help Bryan Fight Glioblastoma

Donation protected
Bryan Stone was diagnosed with a stage IV Glioblastoma Multiforme (or GBM) in early January 2013 at the age of 42. A GBM is a very aggressive primary malignant brain tumor. The tumor was located in his right front temporal lobe and was approximately the size of a “C” battery.

In mid-January he and his wife, Wendy Stone, traveled to Durham, NC to have it removed by Dr. Alan Friedman at Duke University Hospital. Upon returning home to Nashville, TN, he began the healing process and started treatment at the Vanderbilt Ingram Cancer Center. He underwent 6 weeks of radiation therapy, 5 days per week, and took Temodar, an oral chemotherapy drug.

Since that time, he has battled three GBM reoccurrences and has exhausted pretty much all of the conventional medicinal options to inhibit its growth.

Currently, he is fighting the re-growth of the 2nd occurrence and has had a consultation with a surgeon at Vandy. All of that to say, another surgery is imminent and the tumor’s growth has yet to abate in any way.

Below is an MRI image of the newest occurrence, which illustrates its rapid growth in the past 3 months. This spot will require another surgery in the coming weeks.

Although Bryan suffers from debilitating headaches most every day, he maintains his positivity and sense of humor that touches everyone who meets him. His quality of life, however, has suffered considerably. He can no longer enjoy many of his favorite activities such as traveling, attending concerts and festivals, kayaking, and tinkering on cars and computers. Additionally, he cannot return to his job as a Facility Technician with AT&T due to this condition.

The goals of this Go Fund Me campaign is to enable Bryan and Wendy to explore alternative treatments and alleviate some of their financial burden. Bryan still has a lot of fight left in him, so please join me in aiding that fight. I know that all of his friends and family would agree that we want him to have access to every possible treatment!

We love you, B Stone! You’ve got this!
