Brooklyn's Accessible House

Donation protected
We are currently raising money to modify our current home or build a house that is accessible for our 7 year old daughter who is wheelchair bound with very low muscle tone. Brooklyn has Congenital Myopathy Disease and she will always be in a motorized wheelchair because Congenital Myopathy robs a body of it's ability to move on it's own.  Brooklyn started using her wheelchair in the house and we found very quickly that our house does not supoort a wheelchair very well.  We are looking to modify our home or build a home that has wide open spaces. Hallways Brooklyn is able to pass through and turn around with her wheelchair without problem. A handicapped bathroom with changing area, roll under sink to wash her hands by herself, roll in shower and a space to have her wheelchair in there at the same time! A bedroom that will fit all of her machines that she will need like a cough assist, nebulizer, the Vest machine, her feeding pump, and bipap and still more to come. We want to have space for her to play with her siblings as normal as possible, which we currently do not have. Brooklyn shares a room with her older sister and the space is very limited for two girls. My husband and I are thinking to the furture and look forward for Brooklyn to be able to attend sleep overs, but realize that isn't probably possible. So we want to make a home where there is enough space for Brooklyn to have friends over and experience the fun things that every child should. We want to have children over where they can play with Brooklyn and not have Brooklyn left somewhere because she isn't able to move and the other kids are on the next adventure. Brooklyn loves to bake! We would love to have a safe place for her to bake, which is not currently sitting on the cupboard. I stay by her side constantly while baking on the cupboard because if she falls, the outcome could be deadly. Brooklyn is unable to catch herself from a fall of any type, short or high. She isn't able to sit up on her own either, so just leaning over to far can cause a fall. Thank you for visiting and helping us fund a home that Brooklyn is able to move around freely!
