Brit's Kick Cancer Fund

Donation protected

Cancer. It is an equal opportunity offender. Young or old, it finds its way into our lives and stirs up our sense of normalcy. With faith, prayer and loving support, we have watched countless loved ones overcome the challenges that cancer presents.

On March 17, 2012, Brittany was diagnosed with Stage 3 Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Based on the American Cancer Society's research, there will be 9,000 new cases of Hodgkin's Disease in the United States this year. Needless to say, it was difficult for us to believe that this beautiful, vibrant, and otherwise healthy, young lady could be suffering from this progressive disease. We are thankful, however, that her condition was discovered when it was, and we'll be forever grateful that an oncologist with a huge heart began to care for Brittany and was proactive in ensuring that her treatment began right away. After seven long days of testing, labs, and minor surgery followed by her first dose of chemotherapy, Brittany was discharged from the hospital with an aggressive six-month treatment plan.

Brittany will continue with her chemotherapy at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in Torrance, CA. Infusions will be done every two weeks for six months, after which her physician will determine if any additional treatment will be necessary, based on Brittany's response to the chemotherapy.

As most of you know, Brittany has a heart of gold, an infectious smile, an immeasurable amount of strength & determination, and (as one of her Aunts appropriately noted) she "has a very crowded corner" - surrounded by tons of family and loved ones. While we have absolutely no doubt that Brittany will be victorious in this fight, this chapter of her life will prove to be a challenge like no other. One of the biggest challenges will be the financial burden that the upcoming medical treatment and related expenses are sure to bring. Prior to her diagnosis, Brittany had just begun working at a new job, and had not yet become eligible for medical insurance. In addition, the 5-6 trips per month to Harbor-UCLA and recovery time will limit her ability to maintain employment. For this reason, we have created this fund raiser to help alleviate the costs associated with this treatment.

Donations of any amount are greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for the time you took to read about Brittany and her fight "“ please continue to keep Brittany and her family in your thoughts and prayers. God bless!
