Nepal To NOLA-Help Rin come home!!!

Donation protected
My brother, Woody,  recently embarked upon a pilgrimage to Kathmandu, Nepal and, as fate would have it, met a very special and in-need street pup that he has assumed care for after trying unsuccessfully to find a home for him in the midst of a city full of neglected street dogs. I've started this campaign to help him get this little guy back to the sanctuary of his home in New Orleans upon completion of his journey. The funds will be used for vet visits, treating scabies, multiple vaccinations, neutering, health certificates, boarding & travel expenses from Nepal to NOLA. Any additional monies raised above and beyond these aforementioned expenses will be donated in full to various individuals and organizations diligently working on the ground in Kathmandu desperately trying to keep up with an increasing and neglected homeless street dog population. Here's his story....

"I've been living with a Sherpa family in the Boudha district of Nepal (World epicenter of Tibetan Buddhism as I like to refer to it), just outside the city limits of Kathmandu, for the past ten+ weeks.

In the process of working on just "being," grounded in a state of stillness, without having to go looking for it
love and connection have once again found me in the truest form of "Buddha nature", that of an innocent, helpless, unconditionally loving animal. This was the furthest scenario from my mind when I came here which is, of course, the reason it's happened.

Just the other day I had an epiphany, looking into those eyes, that we'd met before and instantly felt that I was again "witnessing" the spirit of Bug, my former soul mate, mentor and life companion. Now I find myself in a position where, trying to remain free of attachment and desire, I'm called to compassionately do what I can to figure out a way to transport this gentle loving soul to a place where I know he will be best loved and cared for, from the dangerous and dirty streets of Boudha to the safety of the Black Pearl in New Orleans. This is going to be a complex undertaking and as such I am going to need a significant amount of support but in the process I believe I can help relieve the suffering of, not only this particular sentient being, but many others in a similar situation to his.

The story here, as many dog tales are wont to be, is a twisting, turning, ongoing tale of fate intermingled with synchronicity and I'll be more than happy to share details with whomever is interested in hearing them, perhaps over a fish taco or two in my backyard when I return home. Long story short is that I quickly came to realize, after unsuccessfully reaching out to the local community here to find this little guy a home, that the chances of getting him adopted into a nurturing environment were slim to none and he wasn't going to survive very long on the streets here between his health issues, malnutrition, and older aggressive dogs protecting their space. There's a reason there aren't a lot of puppies around the streets of Kathmandu as it's a true case of survival of the fittest around here and these dogs are very territorial about the tiny parcels of space they've claimed for their own.

In the next few days, with the help of my dog loving, kind-hearted sister Karen Wood, I will be putting together a GoFundMe campaign to help with the expenses needed for this endeavor and also, I'm hoping, to put a portion of what I'm able to raise towards helping ease the homeless, malnourished, street dog epidemic here in Kathmandu. A little goes a long way here. That's all for now. Stay tuned...The journey has just begun. Namaste Y'all" ❤️
