Bring Joshua Home

Donation protected
As many of you know, Joshua Bechtle suffered a severe spinal injury over Labor Day weekend and, as a result, the Bechtle family has suddenly had their lives turned upside down.  Aside from the obvious emotional and physical hardships the family will face over the coming weeks and months, Josh's injury will also place a significant financial burden on the family. The Bechtle's have always been super supportive within their community, their church, and, most importantly, to their family and friends. For that reason, I have created this page to give friends and family of the Betchle's the opportunity to return the favor and show their support in this time of need.

For those of you who know Josh, you have already experienced his charming, fun loving and goofy personality. No matter the circumstance, Josh has a magic about him that can light up an entire room and bring everyone together. Joshua is undoubtedly one of the most kind, courageous and patient people I have ever met.

It is no secret that Josh has already overcome more challenges in his life than most of us will ever face. Josh has always handled anything life has thrown at him with a smile and has always surpassed all expectations with his strength, courage and, most admirably, his bright and adaptable personality. Despite all of the trials and tribulations, Josh has never let it knock him down and this challenge will not be different.

On Labor Day weekend, Josh was at friend's pool party enjoying the long weekend when he dove into the pool after a football. Unfortunately, when he hit the bottom of the pool, he fractured his neck and lost all sensation and movement from the waist down. On Monday, he underwent a major 8-hour surgery at Jersey Shore Medical to repair the damage to his spine. The surgery was successful; however, the road to recovery for Joshua will be a long and tedious one, as he still has not regained sensation or function below his waist.

Josh was in the ICU for 3 days after surgery and has now moved to a step down trauma unit where he is still recovering. He is currently waiting for a bed at a rehabilitation facility where he will be receiving treatment for at least 6 to 8 weeks before returning home.

Currently the Bechtle family does not have a house that is wheelchair accessible and they will need to undergo major renovations over the next 6 weeks to ensure they are ready for Joshua when he is finally able to come home.

The Bechtle family is asking for support for following costs:
     - Handicap Accessible Vehicle ( ~ $20,000 used)
     - Ramps to access the family house ( ~ $3,000)
     - Home renovations for a handicap accessible Bedroom and Bathroom ( ~ $15,000)
     - Wheelchair and Shower Chair ( ~ $1,500)
     - Medical Costs not covered by insurance ( ~ $10,000)

Despite this tragedy, Josh has miraculously still kept a positive attitude. While at the hospital Josh called his Mom, Yvonne and said, "I've been working on my arms and legs all night so I can home earlier if they let me."

We are asking that everyone rally around Josh and the Bechtle family and help support them in this difficult time. Any donation that can be spared would be extremely appreciated, but if you are not in a position to be able to donate, we ask that you please share the link to help spread the cause.

The Bechtle family is beyond grateful and forever appreciative to all of their family and friends for the love and support they have received over this past week and will continue to receive on the road to recovery.
