Andrew’s Bethel WorshipU Experience

An incredible opportunity has presented itself to the Martin family as I have recently been accepted to the Bethel Worship U in Redding, CA.! This is a 10-day long, condensed course on Worship, featuring various topics foundational to worship and many of aspects that help to build upon that foundation. Not only is this academic, but it is also a course designed for the training and discipleship of worship leaders. All of the training is through Bethel, and will additionally feature time with and lectures by artists such as Bethel, Jesus Culture, Cory Asbury, Steffany Gretzinger, and more! When this opportunity presented itself, I couldn’t help but feel excitement course through my head and heart! However, my primary objective was to pray on this and see if this was an avenue that God would have me take in His continued guidance down the path of becoming a Worship Pastor. He has already steered me onto the path of seminary through Liberty University, but is this yet another form of training for that path? My answer really came as an emphatic “YES,” confirmed by family, church family, and friends. However, almost immediately negative thoughts came into my mind as our little family isn’t exactly well-off, with my wife working as a (rock star) nurse and me only working part-time at Home Depot. We’re certainly doing fine, financially, but adding the cost of this program, paying for travel expenses, as well as living expenses and food—well, it all adds up and immediately formed into this daunting mountain. As much as I believe that God will provide for those who love Him, my humanness took over and I began thinking about—really worrying about—how we were ever to afford for me to go to an experience like this? God was certainly aware of my worries and the battle in my mind and He put it in the hearts of some folks in our church to simply call me up or text me, reminding me that, if this is truly God’s plan for me, then He WILL provide a way. As for where I should begin in this journey, I talked to several people about the battle I was having about asking for help in this endeavor. It’s a real struggle for me to ask for help, and I didn’t know exactly where to start. After the counsel of some family and friends, it was suggested that I simply start a GoFundMe page and also send out letters. So here we are! I am officially at the point where I’m beginning to take the first steps of this journey and I’m imploring you to help me get there!
