Bring Clara's Kitchen to Downtown Denton

Clara's Kitchen, a Black-Owned Business, has been serving delicious soul food in Southeast Denton for over a year. Owners Tammy Bradley and Manuel Gooden won a huge victory in March of 2019 when Denton agreed to correct a long standing discriminatory zoning problem and let the restaurant operate as it had going back to the 1920s. You see, their restaurant was zoned incorrectly (a typical obstacle for businesses in black communities) and it stopped them from opening like other restaurants in Denton could. I could not be more proud to call Tammy and Manuel friends.

Tammy and Manuel have dreamed of opening up in downtown Denton to share their soul food with more than Southeast Denton but did not think it was feasible until recently. The Denton community has shown up to support Clara's Kitchen in the past week. People have offered to support a black-owned restaurant in Downtown Denton. This gofundme is set up to cover the cost of restaurant equipment and the first few months of expenses in a new space so Tammy and Manuel can open a restaurant in downtown.
