Miss New York Pageant

For those of you who do not know this, I decided to apply for the Miss New York pageant. Upon sending my application, I conducted a phone interview and later received an email stating that I had been selected as a contestant! Those that know me know that I have never been in a pageant prior to this, yet I still chose to dive right in with my head held high and filled with excitement. As a pre med student at Fairfield University, my schedule is pretty busy. I'm usually running to classes or running to the library to study, but I still chose to dedicate my time to preparing for this pageant. All my life I have always stopped myself from doing things that I've wanted to. I always had an excuse like "I won't be good at it," or "it seems hard." The word "can't" was reoccurring in my vocabulary. As I enter my sophomore year of college, I no longer wanted to be held down by that four letter word. I am using this pageant as a way to prove to myself that I can do anything with dedication and passion, and hopefully be a guide and inspiration to young girls who are discouraged by the word "can't." Those that chose to help fund my efforts in the pageant will lessen the costs of buying a gown, interview outfits, hotel stay, and other expenses.
