This battle began back in April 2016 when I began to loose weight and just began to feel poorly. I decided to take some vacation time and go home. You see I work in the oil fields of North Dakota.
I went home to the Upper Peninsular of Michigan and ended up in the emergency room. However they missed the mark. So I returned to work and in December returned home feeling even worse then before. I went to a new hospital and doctor. There they found a huge mass and sent me to the Mayo Clinic.
I was diagnosed with Non Hodgkins Lymphoma - Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma. We thought that a few rounds of your typical chemo would do the trick, but that was not the case. There was a mild reduction but not enough.
So I was put on a clinical trial study in hopes that this would work. There is a partial response. What is needed now is a Stem Cell Transplant. Although my wife and I are veterans I do not receive any help from the VA, I really need your help. As many of you know when something like this happens it wipes out everything you saved and leaves you wondering what to do next.
I have never asked for help from anyone before. We have always made due, but my wife is at her wits end trying to come up with a plan of action to get me to the Mayo for this transplant. I have to spend 6 to 8 weeks at the Mayo Clinic, in Rochester Minnisota and have no idea how we will be able to afford this.
I humbly am reaching out to my fellow veterans and to everyone for any help you can give.
I really want to be around to dance with my youngest daughter whenever she gets married; like I danced with my eldest on 19 August 2017. It took alot out of me but I was not going to miss that special moment. I thank you for reading my story if nothing else.
