Brian + Joey to Ethiopia

Hi Friends!
We are overjoyed to have the opportunity to return to Ethiopia in February 2019! This time, we will be serving with a team from The Table Initiative .
When our plane took off from Addis Ababa in May 2017, we immediately looked at each other and asked "when/how can we return?" We left a large part of our hearts in Ethiopia, and we didn't want years to go by before reuniting with the people and culture we love so dearly. We fought the desire to book the next flight back, because we knew we wanted to return with a clear purpose. So when we heard about The Table Initiative's approach to building relationships and serving internationally in a holistic and sustainable fashion that empowers the local communities, we knew it was the perfect fit!
The Table's mission is to connect global communities and create advocates for social justice. They come alongside incredible local Ethiopian organizations who are working daily to tackle some of the hardest social justice issues of our time.
We are going to learn. We are going to listen. We are going to serve and show love to the orphans, widows, street children, trafficked children, and the vulnerable in a holistic, sustainable, and empowering way. And we are going to raise awareness and advocate for social justice.
Brian will be on the Tandem Support Team, focusing on building long-lasting relationships + serving several different organizations in a variety of ways. Joey will be on the Creative Team, using her camera to document the stories of those organizations so they may have a database of quality media to raise awareness and support. A crucial part of our trip is to learn how to retain the beauty and human dignity of the people we meet in the stories we share.
Since we are partnering with several organizations throughout our trip, we will be traveling from Addis Ababa to Hawassa, and are looking forward to experiencing a new city in this beautiful country!
After 10-days with The Table, we hope to extend our trip for a few more days to continue to invest in the relationships we've made with Young Life Ethiopia and the Missionaries of Charity orphanage.
Will you consider joining us to help make this trip happen within the next 5 months? We need prayer partners as well as financial assistance in raising the funds to travel overseas.
If you would like to join us in prayer: our prayers are that we will continue to trust the Lord’s provisions in the details of this trip, for health and safety while we prepare and travel, and that He would grow us, teach us, use us, and change us through what we see and experience.
Our goal of $6,500 will cover airfare, in country travel and living expenses while in Ethiopia.
We are also supplementing our fundraising by selling handmade macrame, silk-screened shirts, digital prints, and any other creative idea we come up with over on our instagram (@threads.for.a.purpose) ---> if you are interested in supporting our trip in that way!
