Obituary for Gabrielle Bríanna "Bri" Fransisco

(Written by Bri's parents, Danielle and Tim Harris)

We lost Bri, February 23, 2017, to addiction. She was just 24 years old.

Bri was like a jig saw puzzle that was thrown up in the air. If only, the pieces could have magically fallen down in order, she would have been the most incredible masterpiece. Bri tried daily but, even with all of her amazing, feisty spirit, there was still often wind, rain and other interferences that made life difficult for her.  Bri would have loved us to help her bring all of the pieces together... Help others that are trying to assemble their own jig saw puzzle.

For this, we have decided to start a fund that will be used to create and finance the causes for which Bri had so much passion.

The exact details and path are still being determined but, in lieu of flowers we would greatly appreciate your support. We are comitted to making this tragedy have a deep purpose and meaning. We will provide regular updates to those who donate here in her name.

Bri had such an artist’s soul. In fact, she often drove us crazy with her all-to-free artistic spirit.  At the same time, it's exactly what we loved about her. Her spirit defined her and made her so incredibly special. She loved deeply, defined life her own way and insisted on blazing her own trail. She loved nature, animals, photography, coloring, drawing, writing, philosophy, sociology and so much more!

She was a deep thinker and an unbelievably good debater. In fact, if you were planning to make any point with Bri, you better have had your facts right and your thinking cap on. You better have been on your toes and ready for the discussion, because she would leave you tongue tied and questioning your own line of thinking, without any preparation. Bri was incredibly intelligent. In fact, from a young age, she was beyond her years intellectually. This was a blessing and a curse. It made it hard to treat her like any other child because she could hold conversation with the intellect of an adult (even at 12 or 13 years of age).

One of the best things about Bri was her sense of humor. She was so funny and incredibly witty. She would constantly catch you off guard with a hilarious observation or response to something that everyone else would have seen as ordinary or uneventful. She never failed to make you laugh when one of these zingers came, unexpectedly, flying out of her mouth.

Bri loved helping people. Another blessing / curse as she would help to a fault. She was at her happiest when she was trying to mend a broken soul... Often at the expense of her own. There was no line for her. She would go all the way into the depths of despair in an effort to hang on to another who was struggling. Any effort to  have her draw back and save herself was futile... Bri was extremely strong willed (putting it mildly). When Bri made up her mind, there was no changing it.

Often, when Bri needed to find her center, she would color complex pictures in adult coloring books, draw amazing art work, write insightful philosophical thoughts, take incredibly artistic photos or go walking in the woods.

Bri had so many amazing qualities but, unfortunately, was never quite able to channel them all to find peace,  joy, or her own content path in life.

In life, Bri had a great spirit and a strong-will... She would not want her death to be an obstacle!
