My name is Brennan Williams and most of you know that I have an unprecedented passion for the care of kids, both sick and well. My career as a nurse in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Mississippi's only Children's Hospital has molded my outlook on life in ways that no other career can begin to do. Continuing my passion of kids, I am now a Nurse Practitioner in the same Pediatric ICU that I started this whole journey in. Staying in my home atmosphere with a brand new plate of responsibilities and roles is familiar, yet extremely challenging.
Being an integral part of a pediatric ICU means your values, morals, and attitudes are engulfed by everyone around you at every moment of the day. You must be at your best when your patient is at their worst. You must be at your best when the parents of that child are completely broken. You must be at your best when your judgment is a life changing call. You must be at your best even when you are at your worst.
I have seen so much pain. I have seen so much heartbreak. I have seen so much death. But oh, how I have seen so much life in that place that I call my second home. Most people work with teams to complete common goals and task, but I work with a family who is united by the most vulnerable and critically ill kids to save lives.
So to bring this all home, I have been faced with the honor of traveling to Africa with some of the most dedicated and skilled individuals from all over the world to care for the kids of Bomet, Kenya, and I need your help getting there. I will be gone from February 2nd - February 15th. A hospital seeded in the glory of the Lord Jesus Christ is our grounds for work and treatment. Our mission there is surgical operations for children with congenital heart defects and facilitating their critical recovery, something that I have been trained in since day one of my career starting in 2013. I am asking for any donation that you are willing to provide in order to make this trip possible. We have specialized skills that are desperately needed in a resource limited environment to give these kids the best chance at life that we can.
