As a friend of the family I’ve struggled with trying to find a way to help make Brayden’s journey to transplant a little easier. Now that Brayden has to live in the hospital, while he waits for his perfect heart, things have gotten more expensive. Along with their normal living expenses they now have to add travel expenses, additional food expenses, etc. Not to mention the emotional expense of not having your spouse and children there with you during this tough time.
This is a time that I’d like to ask anyone who can help to please donate whatever you can give to help this sweet family.
Brayden has spent his life fighting CDH and Pulmonary hypertension. He had his first heart surgery at 12 days old and his second one at 2 years old which resulted in him being on life support and multiple times of CPR. Brayden was given a 10% chance of survival, look at him now!!! He is 10 and has now been listed for a heart transplant for almost 5 years. He is an extremely high-risk heart transplant patient due to his pulmanory hypertension and his antibodies but he has remained mostly stable throughout the last 5 years with monthly and bi monthly check ups. Until June 2018 when he went in for his yearly heart catheratization and got admitted. The right side of his heart was failing faster than they thought. Brayden is now currently listed 1A and lives in the hospital with his mom until the perfect match is found, then a minimum 3 months after. Brayden will possibly be there longer with all of his health issues while dad, sister and brother are at home. They make bi-weekly trips to the hospital until transplant. Then dad will take time off of work when Brayden is transplanted or if he becomes unstable.
Once Brayden is transplanted they will trade one illness for another, there is not a cure! However, it will buy them more time. They pray for 30+ more years! With his extremely high antibodies they have to be careful that he does not reject the new heart, as of now he does not qualify for a second transplant. They have one shot for this to be his perfect match.
