Whole Person Care Preceptorship

Dear Friends and Family,
I am writing to ask your support as I take on a new and exciting venture to help me reach my goal of becoming a doctor. First I want to update you on the work God has been doing in my life. In the fall of 2012 I was accepted to the only post baccalaureate program that I applied to. I went in without being able to pay for it and God provided. With prayer and perseverance I was able to find a cosigner for my loan in November, a time well after the deadline. It was a time when I should have been kicked out already. A guy from my program, whom I only met once, decided that he didn't want to see me leave. Unfortunately I was unable to finish the spring semester in 2013, but I still had given myself a chance to get into the only medical school that I applied to, Debusk College of Osteopathic Medicine in Harrogate, Tennessee. I was wait listed, and the entire summer I was unsure if I would get in. It was a struggle to keep believing and praying, but the Friday before school started, I got the call. I could go on and on about the work God has done in or around me, but I believe that the only reason I am here is to spread the gospel through medicine.
This summer I will be going to Redlands, California for the Whole Person Care Preceptorship Program. The mission of this program is to raise a new generation of leaders in the health professions who are committed to expanding God's Kingdom and represent Christ's cause. During my time in this program I will learn to integrate my faith in God with the medical skills I have learned over this first year at the DCOM. I will be shadowing physicians, interacting with patients, and fellowshipping with other student doctors from around the world who also wish to combine their faith with their medical practice. This will be a great opportunity for me to learn to effectively heal the body while also learning to heal the soul.
In order to fully participate and enjoy the program, I need the help of as many sponsors as possible. In addition to informing you about the purpose of the program, I am also writing to ask for a donation and also to ask others to help out even if it's just a dollar. I am hoping to raise $4000 in order to cover the costs of the program which include housing, food, conferences, local transportation, and plane tickets. Any amount that you can give will be greatly appreciated, and will enhance my experience one hundred percent.Thank you for your support

Updated Bio 2015

My eyes and heart were open to God in March of 2011, and at the same time, my eyes were open to the world around me. I became aware that the rest of the world lives off much less than we do here in the United States. For a lot of Americans the question is “what will we eat?”, but for many outside of this country it is, “are we going to eat?” My perspective on God was that if I was going to believe in Him and His word then I needed to believe it whole heartedly and everything in it and, to me, that meant dedicating my life to being His servant. After picking up my Bible, diving into His word, and having my heart molded by God, my dream changed from living happily ever after with what I imagined was a perfect comfortable life to possessing a passion for international mission work, opening up medical clinics and schools, and most importantly, spreading the gospel. I might not be able to reach everyone but I know that I can point them to the man that can.

My name is Brandon Hardin and I am just a kid from Nashville, TN that was given a new life. My grandfather was a pastor, I went to a Christian school, I grew up in the church, I was lost but God has brought me back again. I played college football and quit because I said I was going to medical school. My grades in college were decent and my MCAT score was not great. I had no money to pay for the Masters program that granted me a chance to become a first year at DCOM but somehow God provided $13,000. Through prayer and trust I put my faith in Him and He provided. I was unable to finish the program, so I was wait-listed.  I was not accepted into medical school until the Friday before school started. My entire life since my transformation has proven God’s faithfulness when I fully put my trust in Him and His word, when I believe that He is able if I obey and ask in His name. I want to be a leader for the future warriors and help to heal the old ones all while bringing people to Christ through this service. I believe Whole Person Care Preceptorship will help equip me to do so and there is now doubt in my mind that God will make a way as He always has. I hope and pray that you would help me on this journey. Thank you.

Your brother in Christ,

Brandon Hardin
