Dear friends.
I want to share something with you. This summer I will be a student at Heidi Bakers Harvest School of Missions in Mozambique, Africa. After I graduate, I will go on an extended outreach to Israel. I will be gone from May 28th- Sept 15th.
To be honest, I am not an eloquent person and I don't really know what to say to make you like me or join my cause. So instead of using persuasive words, I'd like to share my heart with you.
I will be living with hundreds of street kids and orphans. I will be sitting under the teachings of great prophets, missionaries and pastors from all over the world. I will be evangelizing, praying for the sick and taking medical supplies and food to those who desperately need it, while immersing myself in the African culture. In Israel we will be ministering to churches and strangers alike, while watching the love of Jesus pour over His people. While all of this is exciting and humbling, I am going mainly because my heart is already there.
My heart has been stolen by people I have never met, places I have never seen, and stories I have yet to hear. My heart is already in the hands of the people, and I can feel them gently watching over it until I get there. As I pour over the materials given to me, I look into the eyes of their poor, and I see richness in their spirit that exposes the poverty in my own. I am exchanging my comfort, religion, mindsets and desires for dirty feet, smiling faces, humbling encounters and undistracted time with Jesus. I want to learn His richness by sitting with the poor.
I am in pursuit to find the missing parts of my heart, hidden in the answer to the question, "what does love look like?"
My heart is waiting for me in Africa. My heart is waiting for me in Israel. I am embarking on an extravagant scavenger hunt, expecting to be forever marked and humbled by the limitless and passionate love of Jesus Christ. I am excited to see miracles and healings, but more than that, I am excited to learn about who Jesus is and what he does when you set everything aside.
The costs and the deadlines are as follows:
Harvest school Tuition and Israel outreach: $5,500-due April 24th
Flights: $3100- Due May 1st
Total estimated cost: $8,600
