BSA Troop & Crew 139- UK Trip

Hello and thank you for taking the time to visit our page.  My name is Jennifer.  I am setting up this Go Fund Me for our Boy Scout Troop and Venture Crew 139.  I am an Advisor for the Venture Crew and here is our story...

Boy Scout Troop and Venture Crew 139 in Jerome, Idaho is a Troop and Crew with both boys and girls.  We have many kids from all walks of life.  Some with disabilities, some with troubled pasts, and some that are just seeking adventure.  We welcome all youth that are interested in Scouting.  

Our Troop has boys from 6th grade on up. Our Crew has girls from 8th grade on up.  Both the Troop and Crew is Youth Led.  What does that mean, that means that the youth lead the program and the adult leaders guide them in the process.  We have 2 deep leadership, which means that there is ALWAYS, no matter what, 2 adult leaders with the kids, whether it is in meetings or on an outing/campout.

I could go on and on about our Boy Scout Troop and Venture Crew... but NOW for the REALLY FUN STUFF... why I am setting up this page.

We have recently been blessed with an opportunity to travel to the United Kingdom in May 2018. to see where Lord Robert Baden-Powell (the founder of Boy Scouts) lived.  Also visit the first Boy Scout Camp, take in the local culture, dig at an actual archaeological site, camp on Hadrian's Wall in the United Kingdom, and so much more. 

During our adventure we will have the opportunity to earn a badge that you can only earn as a Scout in the United Kingdom.  We will get to visit with a United Kingdom Troop and learn from them what Scouting is like across the ocean.

We are not just relying on donations from this page, but we have are also raising money with local fundraisers. We will be posting about our fundraisers, to keep you up to date. We know that if you really want something you have to work hard at it. 

ALL donations will help us, as follows: airfare, transportation, food, and supplies.  Any left over funds will be broken up and donated to: The United Methodist Church of Jerome (they are our charter), The Clover Trinity Church of Filer (they also assist us),  and Camp Bradley in Stanley, Idaho (this is one of our councils camps that we visit regularly). 

There are 8 adults leaders (men & women) and 14 registered youth (boys & girls) going.  

We are needing these funds by January 1, 2018.  Why this soon, because in order to get a good price on tickets for this many people that is the best time to buy.

The rest of the money will be spent after airfare has been purchased.  We will be needing to purchase: camp gear, personal hygiene items, food, renting of vans for transportation, fuel for the vans, and more once in the United Kingdom, since we are unable to take a majority of these items with us on the plane.

All camp gear that we purchase in the United Kingdom will be donated to the Troop that hosts us while visiting the country. 

All donations received will go directly to Boy Scout Troop and Venture Crew 139 in Jerome, Idaho.

I will be providing you all with updates through out this adventure via this webpage.  I will upload pictures of our trip after we have gone on it (if Go Fund Me will allow me to that is).
