Boxie the Boxer's chemo fund

‌Meet Boxie the Boxer. At only 4 years old, Boxie was just diagnosed with stage III lymphoma after a lump was found under his neck less than a week ago.

After seeing a specialist in canine oncology, we were told that without treatment Boxie would have a horrible few weeks, resulting in him choking since the tumor would grow and it is so close to his throat.

There is no doubt that all dogs are special. However, Boxie is super special and has so much personality- here is a little bit about him.

After his owner (a Vietnam veteran) had cancer, they got Boxie. Boxie not only became the best thing that happened to them, but to so many others.

Boxie is a therapy dog and volunteers EVERY week in the cancer ward of the the VA hospital in West Haven, CT. Every week when patients see Boxie they become so excited and say "today is Thursday! It's Boxie Day!".

If you have ever thought you saw a dog in a side car cruising around - no you were not seeing things... That was Boxie!  He loves  cruising around town in his motorcycle - yes, it's his! He even sports his doggles (safety first!) and has even been the Grand Marshall for several Memorial Day parades in town.

Boxie also enjoys his morning walks (rain or shine or sleet or snow) in the local park with his close canine pals. Every morning Boxie greets the park with a howl and let's everyone know he is there (except usually he is the first one!) I met Boxie in the park a few years ago and he has become my best bud and greets me when I go for a run. We have made it a game to see who can find the other first! He is the only inspiration to get me out of bed when it is raining or cold. When I watched Boxie for a week - everywhere I went people stopped to say "hey Boxie!"  He is the most famous, loved, and recognized dog around.

There is so much to say about Boxie however here are some financial challenges his owners are facing now.  The costs of all the treatments (19 weeks of chemo) come to about 10k. His owners cannot afford that and are so appreciative to anyone who can donate. No amount is too small. He has truly touched and saved the lives of so many that surround him and have met him, and now it is our turn to pay it back to him.

We hope this can buy him more time to be able to continue to serve our veterans and make them smile, ride around his motorcycle, frequent his favorite local drinking hole (a bar!), walk with his friends in the morning, play soccer in his yard, have staring contests with the frogs in the pond, and continue to bring joy and love to those around him, mostly to his amazing parents who worship him.

If you don't feel comfortable donating online, you will find a photo of Boxie's account information at his vet. You may call and they will take your credit card information. We also asked if they can take your name and address as Boxie would love to send you a thank you card and photo.

Again, no amount is too small.

Thank you and God bless,
