"My name is Boston. I am five and a half years old. I am strong. I am beautiful. I am smart. I have cerebral palsy. It does not have me. I am legally blind...but I was born with a vision...to live this life, and to live it to its fullest.
My family and friends are raising money to provide me with resources for therapies, treatments, services and support not otherwise covered by insurance. They have established this fund to assist with the travel expenses and fees associated with programs such as the Anat Baniel Method out of San Rafael, California. This January, I will be travelling to California with my parents to meet with Anat Baniel: http://www.anatbanielmethod.com. My parents goal is to travel to California 2x a year for this service. In addition, they try to give me lessons throughout the year with someone who has trained directly with Moshe Feldenkrais who started the Feldenkrais Method of Somatic Education (and was Anat Baniel's mentor). http://www.feldenkrais.com.
Our son, Boston Louis, was born at 6:47 pm on Sunday, June 26. He had a very difficult birth - starting with the fact that he wanted to come out literally lips first. Upon arrival he was given immediate chest compressions and assistance as he had no heart beat and was not breathing. He spent the first two months of his life in the NICU:not in his home.
Cerebral Palsy is a non-progressive neuromuscular disorder whereby children have difficulties in controlling muscles and movements as they grow and develop. Boston's Cerebral Palsy primarily affects his eye-sight, and his ability to move like a normal child. At four years old he cannot focus on an object (like his mommy or daddy's face). He cannot sit, or roll, or hold his head up. But he can smile, and howls in pure delight at his sister's voice:and he is one of the little loves of our life. Please help us help him. He deserves every opportunity that you or I have had. He deserves a bright future.
