Ashlie, David and Jayden\'s Family Fund

Hi Family and Friends,

As some of you may know, my Sister Ashlie and her husband David are faced with some unforeseen hard times right now.  Many of us are going through hard times  but, for this wee family, that once was able to work to make a living has become overwhelmed due to health issues. They\'re hard working and I know with a little help they will overcome their hardships.

Like many, both David and Ashlie received a major pay cut in the last year. Following their cut, a few months ago, their ten month old boy Jayden woke up one morning with a serious and rare infection behind his eye, called Orbital Cellulitis.  The doctors feared that it would enter into his brain and cause brain damage.  He was in ICU for some time where the surgeons places a pick line into his heart in order for his antibiotics to be placed directly into his blood stream.  Their family pulled through, mentally and financially. Unfortunately, their family didn\'t have much time before they headed into their next challenge.

David had suffered a back injury at a young age and in conjunction was born with a defect in his vertebra, known as a pars defect. Between the two, his pain became unbearable and was beginning to affect his other vertebra. After exhausting many options, he was forced to go through with a life changing back surgery.  He would have a piece of his spine removed and a synthetic vertebra implanted placed in his back, along with many screws and spacers, in what was thought to be a six hour anterior/ posterior surgery.  The compilations involved with the surgery were serious but, worth it because of his server pain.

The surgery took a grueling nine hours and David lost a lot of blood. He now has no feeling in his right leg, making it difficult to walk. He is undergoing physical therapy and is able to walk with a walker and hopes to make a full recovery.  The recovery time before he can go back to work will be 6 months if all goes well.

Through all of the hard times Ashlie has been a rock for baby Jayden and her husband David. They are an amazing family and even when life gets rough they work hard and look forward to pulling through together.

Ashlie currently works with disabled children and has a school loan out, as she is planning on finishing her teaching degree. She is the sole provider and care giver for baby Jayden, working and going to school full time.

I am not there to help my little sister like I wish I could be.  Living in the UK makes it hard to be there for my family.  I am doing the Edinburgh 5K run (with training, I am not a runner)  in order to raise money for my sister\'s wee family, hoping that every little bit will count and they will be able to pull out of their health and financial hardship.  This last week they hit the bottom of their bank funds. Please sponsor my run and we can help to put food on their table until Davids get on his feet again.

Thank you for all of your support!

Love,

Michele
