Who helps the helpers?

Bobby Dean, a man of selfless integrity, who manages to impact so many with so little, is in need of help.

On Saturday, November 11th, Suzi Dean was awoken by her husband calling out. He was unable to get out of bed, and could not articulate what was wrong. Suzi immediately called Bobby’s parents, who rushed over and quickly determined he had suffered a stroke.

After surgery to open blocked arteries, he is currently in ICU awaiting further treatment.

Bobby Dean is a home health care worker, making roughly $20,000 a year. Intentionally kept under 40 hours, he does not qualify for medical benefits. To provide for his family, he takes any odd jobs available (mowing lawns, cleaning homes, etc.) for extra income.

Bobby is the primary caregiver of his wife, Suzi, who was diagnosed with MS over 15 years ago and is legally blind and diabetic.

Ever the servant, Bobby participates in the local prison ministry. He has worked to develop close relationships with men who have been given life sentences and who lack anyone in their lives who will speak with them, care for them, or show them love.

Bobby also serves in his local church, teaching 4-6 year old children. Though he and his wife were never able to have kids of their own, the children love him (and he them).

In addition, they provide rides to their church to anyone needing a lift. Though they drive a 20 year old vehicle (donated by a family member) they do anything they can for those in their community.

This selflessness extends to those outside their church. Despite their income restraints, Bobby and Suzi frequently buy groceries for those in need, visit the elderly and run their errands, and buy other essentials for those who cannot afford them.

10 years ago, Bobby also became a bone marrow donor. After hearing the story of a young girl in need, he rushed to provide aide. Though he wasn’t a match for her, he was able to help a man diagnosed with Leukemia. This man lived for an additional six months, and the man’s wife was deeply thankful for the extra time with her high school sweetheart. Bobby was grateful he could help, but it broke his heart to hear of his passing.

Bobby Dean is a good man. One who deserves the same outpouring of support he has given over the years. Any amount you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

All donations received will go directly toward paying Bobby and Suzi’s medical bills.
