I have been taught that we should be responsible to and for each other. As we all belong to the human race, I believe that by such practice, we will become a more empathic society and our world would consequently improve. At 17, I truly know that my purpose in life is to be a meaningful part of improving our world.

For years, I’ve been passionate about sharing with the world the experiences of those who otherwise might not have their stories told. Therefore, my initial goal is finishing college with a degree in Journalism and Communications.

This degree would expand my horizons and opportunities for greater access to underserved groups.

I work part-time as a restaurant hostess and I babysit as much as I can.  Volunteering with Habitat for Humanity, Coatesville Kids to College, and serving on a civil rights committee are a few of the ways I practice being a servant in my hometown now, but I intend to reach back often even after I begin my profession.

With so much scandal in the field, some publications have lost their journalistic integrity.  Conversely, working with organizations and companies with stunning reputations is how I’d prefer to fulfill my ethical intentions in the workplace.

Beside journalism and advocacy, I want to attend seminary. I am faithfully dedicated to teaching and learning more about how spirituality factors into one’s wholeness and purpose. It may well be the missing link to societal conversations that expand our acceptance and embracing of the cultural differences that make our society so very rich.

My plans might seem ambitious, but I've always dreamt big. With your help, I can bring my dreams to life!

As much as I have saved from work, and in spite of the scholarships I have earned through hard work in trying personal times, I am still short of making the final portion of my first year's expenses.  At this point, I have learned that my account is on hold until I can make sufficient payments.   I don't seem to qualify for additional loans, so without your help I won't be able to start school on August 25 with a solid foundation.

Please consider helping with any of the following outstanding expenses I have incurred at Immaculata University that were due on August 4:

Meal Plan / BRD                              $2,745.00
Room Assignment HOUS           $3,195.00
Undg Studies Tuition TCU         $9795.00
University Stu Services Fee      $425.00
Books and Supplies                       $1150.00
Computer and Printer                 $2005.00
Transportation to work               $685.00

Any gift or gift-in-kind is more appreciated than you may ever know.  I thank you in advance. -- Amira
