Mission Trip

I have been incredibly blessed with the opportunity to travel to the Philippines and serve those who need it most. For a while now God has been calling me to do something more, to use and act on the passion of helping others that He has instilled within my heart. I will be in the Philippines for about four months on a medical mission. During my time there I will be working in the local health center in Trece Martires. During the weekdays I will be assisting with medical evaluations, giving vaccinations/immunizations, and other related services. On Saturdays, I will be helping out with the mobile education project put on by VIDES.  

VIDES stands for Volunteers International for Development, Education, and Solidarity. It is a missionary program that works alongside the Catholic Salesian community to promote solidarity, social justice, and generosity in the sharing of ones self by living a Christ-centered life while also serving those who are poor and marginalized.  The Salesian brothers and sisters work mostly with underprivileged women and children. This past summer I had the opportunity to experience all of this first-hand while living with some Salesian sisters and helping out at their summer camp up in Haledon, New Jersey. For five weeks I was able to fully emerse my self in the Salesian way. It was truly an eye opening and such a joy filled experience. I have never encountered people with so much joy in their hearts for all that they do, whether it was mopping the floor or talking to the kids about Jesus they did it all with a full heart. This way of life taught me a lot about not only how to better myself but also those I encounter. I found the joy to be highly contageous not only in myself but also with the kids I was there to serve.

I humbly ask for your prayers as I continue on in this next big step in my life, prayers not only for me but also for those I will come in contact with.   Please know that as I minister to these people of God, I will also be praying for you and your needs.
