Midwife Apprenticeship in Nepal
My dream is to become a midwife & holistic healer and travel to third-world countries, so I may help women in impoverished areas who could not otherwise afford health care. It is astounding to me that even in today's times, so many women die in childbirth due to things easily avoided--such as the birth doctor not washing their hands. I am finally realizing part of my dream by traveling to Nepal and India this September, where I will study with an ayurvedic doctor as well as apprentice under a midwife. It is important to me to learn as many aspects of healing as I can, so I may broaden my perspective and have a vast spectrum of practices. I believe that this will also make it easier for patients of different cultures to open up to me and allow me to help them. I hope to be abroad for about 6 months, give or take. I have my plane ticket, but the economy has made it hard to be able to save much for this trip. Please help me make my dream come true!
