The town of Blackwell desperately needs your help! The State has decided to place a violent sexual predator in our neighborhood. This man was convicted of raping multiple young children, and he is being placed in a remote residential neighborhood within short walking distance of the public Bear Lake campground, heavily used Rat River Recreational Trail, and local beaches.
Our concerns have gone unaddressed by local lawmakers, so the only way to fight his placement is in court. But we cannot do it alone! Our town does not have the financial resources to take on the State. That's why we've started the Keep Blackwell Safe Go Fund Me. The funds we raise will be donated to the Town to cover its legal expenses.
Forest County will not be safe if the State makes this placement. The Wisconsin Dept. of Corrections officially disapproved this location, and the local Sherriff has stated he cannot monitor this predator's whereabouts due to non-existent cell phone and GPS coverage. He will be free to roam. Blackwell's local National Forest campground will likely be closed and seasonal tourism will decline. Our small business owners will suffer because of this.
