The black community in Kansas City is at a crossroads. And now is the time for us to build community and establish control over our ability to participate in the systems that affect our neighborhoods, our schools and our community! The Black Community Project would like to host a huge community event in the summer of 2021! This event will have access to a number of community resources that are needed as well as Serve as a huge cultural celebration with African storytelling, dancing, music history and more! We will engage with community partners, activists, social workers, hospitals and mental health professionals as well as media, preachers and churches and local leaders! We want to highlight a feeling of celebration as well as community in the level of work and organizing That we commit to.

This event will focus on community uplift as well as commit to solely employing the services of black and brown businesses. We also will look at and consider how the speakers and entertainment impact that group specifically! Black and brown people will be central as the core of the work for this event! We want to give our community a taste of what we can offer ourselves when we come together in positivity! We realize that this is a huge undertaking and we can’t do this alone. We need the help of not only our community, but of businesses and strategic partnerships to make sure that we are successful in changing the lives of the people in our community, and changing Kansas City for the better!
