#BlackPantherChallengeSacramento

Inspired by Frederick Joseph’s campaign to have children in Harlem see Marvel’s Black Panther in theaters who may have not otherwise had an opportunity to see it, I want to join his efforts by accepting the #BlackPantherChallenge to bring the opportunity for children in Sacramento to see the film.

To quote Frederick, “All Children deserve to believe they can save the world, go on exciting adventures, or accomplish the impossible.” The film is filled with characters and images that children can look up to. Along with this, the inclusion and diversity displayed in the film is something to be celebrated and promoted. Children will see images of characters in powerful roles that are often underrepresented in film. Representation of these characters, regardless of the background of the viewer, is important as it allows children to see people who look like them (or differently than them) in unique ways. I was inspired in what was done for others, imagine what we could ignite in these children, I hope you’ll join me by donating.

Black Panther is directed by Sacramento State Alumnus Ryan Coogler. This challenge provides another way to support someone who achieved success in the Sacramento community and beyond.

I've been getting tremendous support througout the Sacramento community and I want to send 200 kids to watch the Black Panther.

I set a goal to raise $5,500 to provide this experience for children in Sacramento, which all proceeds will go to paying for a private screening at Regal Cinemas in Natomas for them and chaperones. the film release date is Feb 16th and the screening will take place the following week of Feb 19th and 23rd

The disbursement of tickets and cost breakdown are as followed:

Regal Cinemas holds 227 seats for one theater

200 kids
27 chaperones
Move tickets : $13.65
Popcorn & drink: $10.16

I teamed up with fellow Sac St alum Ronald Richardson, Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc. Omicron Eta Chapter and the Grant Jr Pacers and will donate tickets for the Jr. Midget 12-14U team
