the Birthday Squad

We often forget how lucky we are to be able to celebrate with food, gifts, and laughter. For children living with homelessness, their lives are filled with uncertainty and struggle. They are focused on the necessities of survival; the luxury of a birthday party is something that is rarely, if ever, possible.  This project is simple: throw birthday parties for Children living in shelters.

There is an organization in Los Angeles called Alexandria House- a shelter for single women and children who are transitioning out of homelessness. Their purpose is to provide a safe environment in which these families are empowered to live self-supporting and healthy lives by providing the structure needed to seek employment, save for the future, and move on to the next level of housing.

But they can't afford to throw birthday parties for the children. We want to fix that.  Let's give each of these kids a day where they feel special. A day where they feel spoiled. A day where they don't have to worry about the future or think about the past. A day celebrating them at their own birthday party.
