Big Change Is Coming!

Cancer is an epidemic that has touched every human being the world over. It seems that every living person knows someone close to them who has been affected by the disease. I hold a firm belief that as a society we need to look at the root causes of why this is occurring in our communities, instead of just treating the immediate symptoms of the sickness. 

Earlier this year my mother developed an extremely aggressive and malignant growth on her tongue. She immediately had it removed along with 86 lymph nodes from her throat. In doing so she lost half of her tongue. The surgery left her scared and dramatically affected her speech, eating habits and general well being. 
This shocked our family as in addition to this, my dad has been battling Prostate cancer for the last 8 years. 

Cancer has become more then a mystifying ailment we once wondered about the causes of. It is time we look hard at how we live our lives, the substances we consume, and the lifestyle choices we make as a society. It is time we stop pointing fingers, and start finding answers, and solutions. 

That is why for the next month I am teaming up with  Creatively United for the Planet to raise funds for positive research and community engagement to tackle this issue directly.
