Bici Xicas is a Black, Brown and Native women-led collective who encourage, support and center non-white women and femmes to get involved in the biking community.
We offer free bike repairs, bikes, biking accessories, and gear. As well as bike safety lessons, and general bike riding lessons to the community. We teach people who are new to bike mechanics basic bike mechanics, and also pay them to help fix bikes while they learn.
We are focused on helping to uplift the community by empowering women and femmes to feel that freedom that biking has to offer.
We value our community and create spaces where we center non-white women and femmes of all ages to support one another in any level of bike familiarity. We offer opportunities to learn new skills and gain confidence on a bike.
We use our platform to fight for liberation and use community as a form of protection from street harassment and violence that often comes with the over-sexualization of our bodies.
We fight for autonomy and a future we want to live in..
We aim to strengthen our bodies, mind, and community ties.
We also focus on sustainability and care about lessening our carbon footprint. We want to improve the health of our natural environment.
We believe in liberation from white supremacy and the patriarchy. We believe in uplifting BIPOC women & femme voices and bodies.
We believe that a better future is possible by letting our voices be heard and our faces seen around the community. We believe this helps bridge relationships, encourages other non-white women & femmes to get out on heir bike, and overall adds to our collective power.
Your donation will be going towards continuing our work throughout the Spring and Summer. We are currently planning more free bike repair events, in search of affordable tools and bike parts that we need, and are paying the people who's labor is used to repair the bikes and set up these events. We are also looking toward the future and would like to have a dedicated space for a bike shop and community event space.
