***** LATEST NEWS UPDATE – 1st AUGUST 2014 ******
Thank you for wanting to help us with this donation. The Australian Government has come through and have started to fund Bianca's life saving medicine Soliris since 23rd July 2014. We do not have a clear picture how long they will be committing to this and of course that is not acceptable for us long term. We will continue to work with the various leaders that are involved in these negotiation to help us bring a long term solution to save Bianca and other aHUS patients lives. We are suspending all fundraising activities as we know how much financial pressure everyone is under and we already are very grateful for the many donations that have helped us this far and allowed us to provide Bianca with Soliris when the health system was not willing to help us and she was very sick, fighting for her life. On Valentines day we started her first dose on 14th February 2014 and managed 11 doses.

Only a week after her high school formal, Bianca fell ill with an ultra rare and life threatening disease called aHUS. aHUS is an ugly degenerative disease that breaks red blood cells creating millions of clots that attack vital organs. There is only ONE treatment that now saves lives like Bianca and that is called Soliris. It currently costs over $600,000 per year and Bianca will require this drug to protect her from further attacks as well as help her body heal from this attack.
The Australian health System funds this very expensive medicine “for free” already but in a CRUEL twist, Soliris is not funded for aHUS but it is funded for another disease. So Bianca suffers and already after 3 weeks from her attack, she has full kidney failure, high blood pressure and many complications from these serious conditions.
We are raising funds to give her Soliris now and save her from getting worst while we also lobby hard the Government and ask the Health Minister Peter Dutton to give Bianca a chance to live when there is a drug that can save her and that drug is already funded on the Life Savings Drugs Program (LSDP). Every two weeks I have to pay $24,000 to get Bianca a dose that protects her and heals her. Every two weeks!
Help us save Bianca's life and help us get this drug on the approved list of subsidized drugs so the other estimated 100 Australians can live. We all deserve the right to live, not matter our age, sex, religion or wealth.
