<div>It took a while for us before we decided to share our story, maybe because sometimes it is easier to lock yourself in, instead of explaining to others what is happening in your life.
</div>
<div>Our little lion Elias was born the first
</div>
<div>of June 2023 filling our lives with love and immense joy. Everything seemed normal, even though Elias was constantly unsettled.
</div>

<div>At the age of 3 months he hadn't reached yet his milestones, he wasn't smile on us or follows with eyes, and when everyone was keeping saying that everything was OK, every baby has his own time, we knew that something was wrong.
</div>

</div>
<div>We then started walking on our dark days, filled with guilt and fear of having done something wrong, trying to understand what happened to our precious baby.
</div>
<div>Then the world collapsed on us when his first EEG was not normal.
</div>
<div>At the age of 4 months it was diagnosed to Elias the West Syndrome, which is severe Infant Spasm that causes global development delay. Whit future investigations at the bigginnig of 2024 the rest of the world crashed on us giving for Elias the diagnosis of a rare disease caused by the mutation of the TUBB2A gene.
</div>
<div>That genetic mutation it happened by chance to Elias with no explanation, but it should explain to us his brain malformation and epilepsy.
</div>
<div>There is so much uncertainty around what Elias will and won't be able to do, but what we know for sure is that this boy is a warrior and regardless of his diagnosis, Elias is an incredibly happy, curious and determined little hero and he brings his family and those around him unparalleled joy .
</div>
<div>He works hard every day to explore the world and to improve his strength and mobility.
</div>
<div>We know One day Elias will take his first independent steps.
</div>
<div>We do know that erly intervention, at a young age, from multiple disciplines is crucial to maximise his future potential and meet movement milestones like sit unaided or crawling and walking, improve his indipendency and communication.
</div>
<div>Ireland health public service , despite support children like Elias is not enough. The system is overloaded, therefore therapists are overworked and understaffed. The provision of services for children with disabilities in Ireland has shocked us. We would need to fund much of Elias private therapy and some of the equipment, and we have taken it upon ourselves to seek the best services in and out of Ireland to help Elias . We want to provide him with most impactful and evidence based therapies/equipment that he needs to have a better quality of life now and into the future. However, therapies are incredibly expensive.

<div>It has been difficult for us to decide to do a "Go Fund Me” for Elias .
</div>
<div>Our goals for him in 2025 are to let him access to his first section of intensive Physio to help him reach unaided sit and crawling, he will be also doing intensive OT and Speech and Language to help Elias engage with his environment and improve communication.
</div>
<div>He has already been accepted to attend his first intensive rehabilitation in Spain and we hope to travel in US next year and let him attend intensive treatment at Napa center.
</div>
<div>All donations will be used for Elias therapies and equipment in order to maximise the next couple of years where early intervention can have transformative effects.
</div>

<div>Ci è voluto del tempo prima che decidessimo di condividere la nostra storia, forse perché a volte è più facile chiudersi in se stessi piuttosto che spiegare agli altri cosa sta accadendo nella propria vita.
</div>
<div>Il nostro piccolo leone Elias è nato il 1° giugno 2023, riempiendo le nostre vite di amore e immensa gioia. Tutto sembrava normale, anche se Elias era costantemente irrequieto.
</div>
<div>A tre mesi non aveva ancora raggiunto i suoi traguardi, non ci sorrideva e non seguiva con gli occhi, e quando tutti ci dicevano che andava tutto bene, che ogni bambino ha i propri tempi, sapevamo che qualcosa non andava.
</div>
<div>Abbiamo iniziato a percorrere giorni buii pieni di sensi di colpa e paura di aver fatto qualcosa di sbagliato, cercando di capire cosa fosse successo al nostro prezioso bambino.
</div>
<div>Poi il mondo è crollato su di noi quando il suo primo EEG non è risultato normale.
</div>
<div>A quattro mesi a Elias è stata diagnosticata la Sindrome di West, uno spasmo infantile grave che causa un ritardo nello sviluppo globale. Con le indagini successive, all'inizio del 2024, il resto del mondo è crollato su di noi, dando a Elias la diagnosi di una malattia rara causata dalla mutazione del gene TUBB2A.
</div>
<div>Quella mutazione genetica è successa per caso a Elias, senza una spiegazione, ma dovrebbe spiegare la sua malformazione cerebrale e l'epilessia.
</div>
<div>C'è molta incertezza su cosa Elias riuscirà a fare e cosa no, ma quello che sappiamo con certezza è che questo bambino è un guerriero e, a prescindere dalla sua diagnosi, Elias è un bambino incredibilmente felice, curioso e determinato, e porta alla sua famiglia e a chi gli sta intorno una gioia senza pari.
</div>
<div>Lavora duramente ogni giorno per esplorare il mondo e migliorare la sua forza e mobilità.
</div>
<div>Sappiamo che un giorno Elias farà i suoi primi passi indipendenti.
</div>
<div>Sappiamo che l'intervento precoce, a una giovane età, da parte di molteplici discipline, è fondamentale per massimizzare il suo potenziale futuro e raggiungere traguardi nei movimenti come sedersi senza supporto, gattonare e camminare, migliorare la sua indipendenza e la comunicazione.
</div>
<div>Il servizio sanitario pubblico irlandese, nonostante supporti bambini come Elias, non è sufficiente. Il sistema è sovraccarico, quindi i terapisti sono sovraccarichi di lavoro e sotto-staffati. La fornitura di servizi per bambini con disabilità in Irlanda ci ha sconvolto. Avremmo bisogno di finanziare gran parte delle terapie private di Elias e alcuni dei suoi equipaggiamenti, e ci siamo presi la responsabilità di cercare i migliori servizi sia in Irlanda che all'estero per aiutare Elias. Vogliamo fornirgli le terapie e l'equipaggiamento più efficaci e basati su evidenze che gli servono per avere una migliore qualità della vita, ora e in futuro. Tuttavia, le terapie sono incredibilmente costose.

<div>Tutte le donazioni saranno utilizzate per le terapie e l’equipaggiamento di Elias, al fine di massimizzare gli effetti dei prossimi anni, durante i quali un intervento tempestivo può avere effetti trasformativi.
